Introduction

If your Pentax Optio WG-3 GPS camera photos are not clear, will not focus, or the photos are distorted, refer to this guide to replace the lens assembly. When handling the orange ribbon cables use extreme caution to not pull on them because these cables are extremely fragile.

Before starting, be sure the device is fully powered off and be sure to remove the battery.

    • Turn over the camera so the screen is facing up.

    • Remove the four 5 mm Phillips #000 screws that secure the outer cover.

    • Flip over the camera so the bottom is facing up.

    • Remove the single Phillips #000 screw.

    • Remove the cover.

    • Remove the eight 5 mm Phillips #000 screws holding the circuitry together.

    • Carefully remove the circuitry.

    • Flip the circuitry so that the lens is facing up and the flash component is on your right.

    • Identify the orange ribbon tape surrounding the lens.

    • There are three 5 mm Phillips #000 screws to be removed on the right side of the lens.

    • Gently slide the lens piece to the right, remove the tape and take it out.
