Introduction

Regularly cleaning the gears removes dirt and grime that would otherwise keep the gears from moving easily. Be sure to do this indoors in a clean environment to avoid additional dirt build up.

    • Place the lens face up to locate the bottom cover.

    • Remove the two 7mm screws using a J0 screwdriver.

    • Remove the six 4.3 mm screws using a J0 screwdriver.

    • After the screws are removed, the bottom cover should easily pry off.

    • Using a J0 screwdriver, remove the 4mm screw holding the metal plate to expose the gears.

    • Using a pair of tweezers, gently remove the metal plate covering the gears.

    • Part of the plate's tab fits into a socket. Try to pivot around it when removing the plate to prevent bending the plate.

    • Be careful with the gears because some may be loose.

    • Use tweezers to rotate gears or remove any large particles obstructing their rotation.

    • Smaller particles can be cleared using a microfiber cloth only. Other fabrics may leave residual fibers.
