Introduction

A caster is a wheel device that is mounted at the bottom of each chair leg. The weight capacity, and the material on which the chair will be moving, can impact the caster wheels durability. Sometimes caster wheels can become stuck or broken with excessive use or if substantial debris has accumulated in the wheel, and will need to be replaced to restore rolling functionality to the chair. This guide will teach you how to successfully replace office chair casters with new ones.

    • Turn the screwdriver gently until the caster starts to move upwards away from the chair.

    • Try rotating the screwdriver at different angles if the caster won't come out.

    • Measure the wheel's height and length.

    • Once you've done that, purchase your new casters.

    • Large casters(about 3"), are more durable and versatile. Twin-wheel casters are usually used in office settings.
