Introduction
A caster is a wheel device that is mounted at the bottom of each chair leg. The weight capacity, and the material on which the chair will be moving, can impact the caster wheels durability. Sometimes caster wheels can become stuck or broken with excessive use or if substantial debris has accumulated in the wheel, and will need to be replaced to restore rolling functionality to the chair. This guide will teach you how to successfully replace office chair casters with new ones.
Tools
-
-
Use a flathead screwdriver in between the caster and the base of the chair to pry the wheel out of the socket.
-
Turn the screwdriver gently until the caster starts to move upwards away from the chair.
-
-
-
Use a prying tool that is big enough to fit between the caster and over the stem.
-
Gently pull on the caster upwards and it should come off.
