Do you have a jump rope that has bends, twist, or crinkles in it? This guide will go over the steps to remove them so that you can go back to jump roping again with a smooth rope. Having crinkles in a jump rope can cause injuries when exercising.

    • Clean the jump rope if it’s dirty or used, and remove the handles.

    • Fill 3/4 of a large pot with water.

    • Set the pot on a stove and let it reach boiling temperature.

    • Caution: Be careful when handling boiling water since it can cause burns when handled incorrectly. Have an adult help you if needed.

    • Place a large bucket outside.

    • Place the crinkled jump rope into the bucket.

    • Caution: Boiling water can cause burns, so please handle with care.

    • Find a circular object to wrap the jump rope around and slowly apply force to pull and hold it for about 2 minutes.

    • Your jump rope should now be free of crinkles and be ready to use.

    • If you still have some crinkles in the jump rope, feel free to stack weights on top of it and let it sit overnight, or follow the guide over again to get a more refined rope.
