Introduction
Umbrellas help protect you from rain and other weather patterns and so it is important to keep them in working order. A detached metal rib can lead to issues with umbrella usage. This guide will help you reattach a metal rib to the fabric panel to get your umbrella back into working condition.
Tools
-
-
Tie a knot two inches from the end of the thread.
-
Place the opposite end of the thread into a sewing needle.
-
-
-
Insert the sewing needle through the umbrella fabric panel and pull the thread through.
-
Poke the sewing needle through the underside of the fabric panel on the opposite side of the metal rib and pull the thread through.
-
-
-
Pull the sewing needle and thread across to wrap around the metal rib.
-
Insert the sewing needle through the fabric panel and pull the thread through.
-
-
-
Remove the thread from the sewing needle.
-
Tie the loose end of the string to the end of the string with the knot from Step 2.
-
Repeat these steps if there are multiple detached metal ribs from the fabric panel. Once the repair is completed, the umbrella should work properly again.

What sort of thread did you use? Yours seems quite thick, a lot thicker than the standard threads.
