Introduction

If you have a pair of cotton leggings that have developed holes, use this guide to repair the hole by hand sewing.

When leggings develop holes, they are often thrown in the trash because they cannot be worn. But these holes can be easily repaired, even if they are not located on a seam!

Before using this guide, inspect the leggings to locate all holes, as this guide can be repeated if needed.

    • Use scissors to cut a piece of thread that is the color of your leggings at least 12 inches long.

    • Mishandling of the needle could result in minor or moderate injury.

    • Thread the needle by running the piece of thread through the eye, or opening, of the needle.

  3. BLUPbRl4BIolFeXA
    • Pull the thread through the needle until there are two equal halves of thread.

    • Tie a knot with the ends of the thread.

    • Turn the leggings inside out.

    • This is so the sewing will be on the inside of the leggings.

    • Smooth out the fabric around the hole.

  6. 6t4PSZdqpMsTGVJ2
    • Pinch the fabric together.

    • Begin your stitch on one end of the hole.

    • Use short stitches so that the thread will not break easily.

    • Make sure the hole is completely included in the stitches.

  8. j1xhibMVLEU1j4CL
    • Tie a knot using the tied ends of the thread (at the beginning of the hole) and the thread still attached to the needle (at the end of the hole).

    • Make sure the knot is large enough so it doesn't slip through the stitches.

  9. aZAKJEBXOuNpHibg
    • Cut the loose thread above the new knot with scissors.
