Introduction

In this guide, I will show you how to fix and clean your Ducky One 2 SF mechanical keyboard (model#: DKON1967ST). If you use your keyboard daily, then you probably have encountered the sticky key problem before. It is a fairly easy problem to fix and only requires a few minutes depending on the severity of the problem. It is important to note not to over use your rubbing alcohol or water/soap solution. Since this is an electronic device, you don’t want to damage it with liquids. With that being said, there is a panel covering the wiring of the device that protects it from this problem, so make sure when cleaning, keep the Q-tips and cotton balls damp and not dripping with your cleaning solution.

  1. Rq1Q3qxApdjGXNkK
    • Before starting the disassembly of your device, be sure to disconnect your keyboard from your computer.

    • Grab the USB-C cable with two fingers and pull it out of the port on the back of the keyboard.

    • When the keyboard's lights go out, that indicates it has been turned off properly.

  2. Xwsd3YKfKCbjPTCx
    • Dip a Q-tip or cotton ball in rubbing alcohol. Any rubbing alcohol is fine.

    • Make sure the Q-tip or cotton ball isn't dripping but is very damp with the alcohol.

    • The step will require multiple Q-tips or cotton balls.

  3. 1nP5PoAGVPAY4FEA
    • Using the Q-tips, rub the outside of all the keys that may be affected.

    • If the keys are really dirty, you may need to apply some force in order to scrub the grime off the keys.

  4. rmsrHZlTMXsT4VIL
    • Once you have cleaned the top of the keys with rubbing alcohol, remove the key caps from the switches using the key prying tool.

    • You may have to apply force to disconnect the caps. This is normal; no need to worry about breaking them.

  5. osvIUrKamTsxSAVD
    • After removing the key caps from the board, the switches will be available to clean.

  6. DigWcsBg3uLM1Q1N
    • Put any dirty key caps in a small glass with a soap and water solution and let them soak for 3 to 5 minutes.

    • Since the caps are plastic, soaking them for only a few minutes is safe.

    • Remember to let the keycaps dry after removing them from the glass. This is to make sure there no future water damage.

  7. lSd3XAEhwZBp6NMt
    • Use an electronics duster or a can of compressed air to remove any hair, dust, or crumbs that may have fallen under the key caps.

    • To be more thorough with your cleaning, make sure to apply air to the keycaps still on the keyboard to remove anything that can be hiding under those as well.

  8. iAfkAYAQOeZbJnZR
    • Using the Q-tip or cotton ball with rubbing alcohol, clean the top and around the base of the switches.

  9. weq1c4EDXfpK4H2m
    • To replace the key caps, line them up with the cutouts on each switch and push down.

    • Make sure to let the keyboard dry before putting the keycaps back on your switches. This is a precautionary step to prevent future damage.

    • Once you have reassembled the keys, press the ones you have repaired 5 to 10 times making sure you have cleaned and fixed them properly.

    • Remember these key caps are plastic, so you can apply a little more pressure than normal when putting them back on.

Conclusion

To re-assemble your keyboard, put the keycaps on the correct spot of the keyboard and push down to secure the caps.
