Introduction

Loose screws and detached hinges can cause cabinet doors to become crooked. To some, this may look like a job for a contractor, but thankfully re-aligning a cabinet is a quick and easy fix that will save you time and money!

In this guide, I will show you a simple way to fix your crooked cabinet. The pictures demonstrate a cabinet with a soft-closing multi-adjustable door hinge.

    • Open the cabinet door, and determine where it is misaligned.

    • Re-attach the hinge into place.

    • Soft-closing multi-adjustable hinges can snap back into their thickness plates which is the part attached to the inside of the cabinet.

    • Avoid placing your fingers near the thickness plate as its force can cause a painful pinch.

    • Hold the hinge firmly against the thickness plate and tighten the screw until the hinge is no longer loose.

    • There are different methods for aligning your cabinet door depending on the screw you tighten and the direction:

    • Side-to-Side Adjustment: To move the door away from the cabinet, screw clockwise. To move the door closer to the cabinet, screw in a counterclockwise motion.

    • Up-Down Adjustment: Screw in a clockwise motion to move the door up. A counterclockwise motion will move the door down.

    • Measure along the top and sides of the cabinet with a balance ruler or standard ruler.

    • The result should look as pictured.
