Over time, mineral deposits from water can accumulate inside your Nespresso Vertuo machine, affecting its performance and the quality of your coffee. Descaling is a crucial maintenance task that helps remove mineral buildup, ensuring that your machine functions optimally and continues to produce delicious coffee.

Lift the machine head to ensure there are no capsules present inside.

Empty the capsule container by removing it from the machine and disposing of any used capsules.

Fill the water tank halfway with fresh water.

Add 1 packet of the Nespresso descaling solution to the water tank.

To place the machine in descaling mode, begin with the lever in the unlocked position, parallel to the spout.

Press the button once and release it, then wait for the indicator light to turn on.

Rotate the lever to the left to secure it in the locked position.

Then return the lever back to the center to release the lock.

Press and hold the button until the indicator light turns off and then begins blinking again.

While the indicator light is blinking, rotate the lever to the left to place it in the locked position.

Place a large container (20oz+) underneath the spout.

Press and release the button once to begin dispensing the descaling solution.

Discard the solution.

Rinse out the water tank.

Refill the water tank until it's about two-thirds full of fresh water and place it back onto the machine.

Place the large container back under the spout.

Once the machine is silent and the water tank is empty, discard the water from the large container.

To reset the machine for regular use, press and hold the button until the indicator light stops blinking.
