Introduction

Due to excessive use or damage, the efficiency of the solar panel will slowly decrease over time. Once that time has come, this guide will aid you on replacing a damaged or inefficient solar panel using the existing power cord.

    • Open the case by pulling the back tab toward you in a downward motion.

  2. 2YjpEVCPFTRFWDwv
    • Unscrew the two Phillips #2 5mm screws that hold the power cord in place.

  3. lVC5HNZF66RmEsEf
    • Use the flat-end of the spudger to pry off the clamp which holds the cord down.

  4. FxMA5AYLMvF14MZt
    • Use the soldering iron to melt down the solder on each terminal by holding the tip of the iron against the solder until it becomes liquefied.

  5. pKgPDkOVeTiFtmRa
    • Gently pull the leads free from the terminals. If they do not easily separate from the terminals, repeat Step 4.

    • Now any solar panel of appropriate Voltage rating can be used to charge the device by soldering the wire leads to the new panel. Try to find a panel with similar specifications to avoid overloading the battery.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

In order to use solar energy efficiently, we need to learn how to store solar energy. Unfortunately, we can only store a small fraction of the sun's energy.
