Introduction

Whether you broke a string or want a freshly bright sound for your guitar, this guide will teach you how to replace a string on your Epiphone Les Paul electric guitar. I will be using D'Addario Super Light Gauge strings.

  1. KveSdvjRiV2MWBlC
    • Loosen the first sting you would like to replace by turning the corresponding knob counter-clockwise.

    • Do NOT loosen/remove all strings at once! The lack of tension will cause the neck of the guitar to bend, and the guitar will have trouble staying in tune.

  2. yisqPPQvGNC1nFJO
    • Pull string away from the rest of the strings and snip it with the wire cutters.

    • String may go flying and will be sharp. Be careful.

  3. t5wYGA5Lj6DMNusM
    • Remove the cut string from the bridge of the guitar and its corresponding spoke.

    • Lead new string through bridge and then spoke. Leave plenty of slack in the string.

    • Strings will be color coded by the bead on the end of it, and the pack of strings will tell you which string goes where.

    • Use your right hand to hold the slack near the bridge, and use your left hand to tightly pull the string through the spoke while turning the knob with the fingers of your left hand.

    • This may feel uncomfortable, and will also take the longest out of all the steps.

  6. NiQkcSEuVaH5yHuD
    • Once the string starts getting tight and your right hand is no longer needed to hold slack, start tuning the string to the note you want it at.

    • You can use a tuner or your ear. This site can prove to be helpful: How to Tune a Guitar

Conclusion

Have fun playing with your new bright-sounding guitar.
