Introduction

In this guide we are looking at the bottom side of the Compaq Persario. Please make sure your laptop is not connected to any power source and the battery is remove from the laptop. We are going to remove the cover of the hard drive and go through the process of replacing it.

    • It is advised to work on this device only when it is OFF, to avoid electrocution risks. Please make sure your laptop is powered off.

    • On the underside of the battery, there is lock that keeps the battery in place. Using your finger, slide the battery lock to unlock the battery. When you have unlocked it, just lift the battery to remove it.

    • We do not have a battery on our device to show how to take it off.

    • Loosen the two M2.5x3 mm Phillips screws securing the hard drive cover.

    • On the same side as the two screws, there should now be an opening to lift off the cover. Using a plastic opening tool, sightly lift the case up to remove it.

    • Remove the three M2.5x5 mm Phillips screws securing the hard drive assembly.

    • Our laptop did not have a hard drive, so it is not included in the photo.

    • To remove the hard drive, detach it from the the hard drive connector. You can do this by pulling it gently with your hands.
