Introduction
Replacing a string on an instrument can be scary. You always want to make sure that you don’t break the replacement! In this guide, we will show you how to remove and replace the string on a cello. These steps would also work perfectly for another orchestral string instrument, such as a violin, viola, or bass. Simply follow the steps and be back to playing your instrument in less than ten minutes!

Follow the string up to the peg of the corresponding string. Grab it, and twist it towards you.

Remove the string and take out your replacement. Insert the end of the string with the bead in it into the fine tuner slot.

Twist the peg in the opposite direction that you did before. If the cello is facing towards you, then twist it away from you.
