Introduction
This guide will show you how to replace a Carrier 14 Seer Heat Pump capacitor. Often, if your air conditioner is not working, the problem may only be a worn or failed capacitor. The capacitor is responsible for turning on the unit. Because the unit requires a lot of energy to get started, the capacitor stores energy while it is running so that when the unit powers off and back on again, it has sufficient energy to do so.
This fix is relatively simple and does not require any expertise. While there is a chance that the breaker box is electrically charged, this chance is small and is the only potential hazard of this fix.
