Introduction

Follow this guide to adjust the carburetor on a 2019 Echo Power Pruner model PPT-2620.

This procedure requires running the motor for several minutes. Only run the motor outside or in a large, well-ventilated room. Do not run the motor in an enclosed space.

Wear ear protection while the motor is running.

    • Feed the inductive pickup lead wire through one of the two holes in the lower-left corner of the tachometer.

    • Bend the wire around and feed it through the second hole, then pull it tight.

    • Clamp the inductive pickup lead alligator clip onto the spark plug wire.

    • Make sure the inductive pickup lead wire is not touching anything except the tachometer.

    • Wear ear protection for the remainder of the procedure.

    • Start the motor and let it run for two minutes to ensure it reaches operating temperature.

    • Make sure the choke is fully in the open position.

    • Use a Phillips screwdriver to adjust the carburetor idle screw until the tachometer reads as close to 3100 RPM as possible:

    • Turn the idle screw clockwise to increase RPM

    • Turn the idle screw counterclockwise to decrease RPM

    • Once the idle has been set, shut off the motor and disconnect the tachometer.
