Apple’s first generation iPad was released on April 3rd, 2010. The first generation iPad was released with iPhone OS 3.2 but can be updated up to iOS 5.1.1. Shockingly, 300,000 iPads were sold on the first day of their release. Apple reached 3 million iPad sales after 80 days of the first generation iPad being on the market.
The first generation iPad was praised for having numerous capabilities and offering a usable device that offered more portability than a laptop. On the other hand, the iPad was criticized by some reviewers for having a closed-off operating system and limited support for Adobe Flash multimedia.
The first generation iPad is a thin, rectangular tablet. It features a touchscreen housed in an encasing. There is a home button and physical controls on the side of the device.
