Background and Identification

TCL Televisions are made by TCL Corporation, a Chinese multinational electronics company that is partially state-owned. They are housed under the TCL Multimedia division of the company. In 2015, it became the third largest television manufacturer and currently it is in either second or third place depending on sales. They have been around for over 40 years delivering consumer electronics to the Chinese market and in the 2000’s they started selling worldwide. They sell under the TCL brand in Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe, North America, South America and Russia. In 2019, they sold over 32 million televisions.

What makes them unique to other brands is their company is vertically integrated, so all of the parts that go into building their TV’s are made by TCL. By doing this they are able to charge less for their product. According to TechRadar, one advantage TCL has is they manufacture such a large amount of televisions, they are able to keep the prices very competitive and that even includes big screen TV’s.

In 2014, TCL Televisions partnered with the streaming platform Roku to make their smart TV. According to TCL.com, their smart TV is one of the best reviewed by consumers on Amazon and CNET rated it as one of the best of 2019.
