Background and Identification
System76 is a computer manufacturer headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The company was founded in 2005 by Carl Richell and Erik Fetzer. The goal of System76 is to sell computers with Linux preinstalled. On that same note, the company aims to contribute to a movement where computer users interact with open-source software, instead of relying on closed-source/proprietary software. This thinking inspired the System76 company name, where the 76 references 1776, the year of the American Revolution.
Among the computer products sold by System76 are laptops, which are named after African animals. System76 laptops are optimized to be lightweight devices with long battery lives that offer a sleek and modern appeal. System76 laptops are also designed to have vibrant displays and powerful processors. Many System76 laptops are customizable, allowing users to pay for the features they care about and save money on the rest.
System76 laptops are thin, rectangular devices. They include a keyboard, trackpad, and fold-down display. They are black and/or silver in color. System76 laptops have the company logo on the back of the device’s encasing.
