Background and Identification

Produced by Samsung Electronics, the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is a waterproof and dustproof Android smartphone released in July 2015. Its predecessor is the Xcover 2 and its successor is the Xcover 4.

Its rugged design is aimed to be durable for users who participate in sports and outdoor activities. The Xcover 3 has three physical buttons on the front of the device to ease access to the phone even when it is wet or muddy. Then, the edges of the phone are strengthened with a tough and resilient plastic with etched grooves to increase grip. The rear cover has similar grooves. Since the corners of a phone are more vulnerable, the Xcover 3’s corners are more thick to protect the screen in case it is dropped. Buttons on the phone are raised to further increase their accessibility. The right side of the phone is home to the volume controls while the left has the Xcover key, which is programmable. It can be programmed to do various tasks with a short or long press. Another notable feature is the lanyard attachment on the left side of the phone.
