Background and Identification
One of the most revolutionary tools humankind has created is the screwdriver. A screwdriver is a tool used for installing and removing screws. A typical screwdriver has a handle and a shaft with a tip at the end that is unique to the screw head and type. The general rule of thumb to using a screwdriver is “lefty-loosey, righty-tighty.” This expression means that in order to install a screw, you turn the screwdriver ‘right’ or clockwise. In order to remove a screw, you turn the screwdriver ‘left’ or counter-clockwise.
As with many inventions throughout time, various modifications can significantly improve the performance of the original technology/invention. One of these cases is the power screwdriver. A power screwdriver is more advanced than a regular simple screwdriver. Most power screwdrivers use an electric or air motor to rotate the screw bit. In addition, power screwdrivers typically use interchangeable bits. This allows the user to easily install and remove various screw heads and types instead of having to purchase a separate screwdriver for each individual type.
While power screwdrivers can vary in size and shape, they are commonly associated and mixed up with cordless drills. These cordless drills can function as a screwdriver, and typically feature a rechargeable and removable battery at the bottom of the device.
