Background and Identification
Panasonic, formerly called Matsushita Electric, originated in 1918 as a company that specialized in selling duplex lamp sockets. The company continued to produce other electrical components through World War II, including bicycle lamps, motors, electric irons, vacuum tubes, and light fixtures. The company has come a long way since the 1940s. Today, Panasonic is headquartered in Japan and offers a range of electronic devices worldwide. These devices include air conditioning, SD memory cards, video intercoms, projectors, scanners, phones, tablets, etc. Panasonic offers a range of services as well, including fire alarm systems, business communication systems, security systems, and more.
Among the home electronics that Panasonic produces are laptops. Panasonic laptops are designed to be as heavy-duty as possible. They are meant for use in tough environments when a computer is still a necessity. For this reason, Panasonic laptops are not nearly as sleek or modern looking as other laptops on the market. As of summer 2020, Panasonic sells two laptops: the Toughbook 31 and Toughbook 55. The Toughbook 55 is the most recent release, featuring a 40-hour battery life and a built-in laptop handle.
Panasonic laptops are relatively thick devices with a keyboard, display, and trackpad. They are manufactured in neutral colors and have the Panasonic logo on the front of the device, just below the screen. Additionally, the Panasonic logo and the word “Toughbook” is printed on the back of the device’s encasing.
