Optoma HD72 Troubleshooting

Background

The Optoma HD72 home projector made its debut in 2006 and was discontinued in November 2008. The Optoma HD72 had an entry point selling price of less than $2,000. Due to its price, brightness, and image quality, it soon gained popularity among both casual users and home theater enthusiasts. Unlike many less expensive projectors that require a completely black room, the brightness level of this one permits it to be utilized in spaces with some ambient light.

There haven’t been any major recalls, but the most noticeable flaw with the Optoma HD72 is how it produces more image noise than its competition. Also, a common complaint is referring to the bulb life being much less than advertised and being very expensive to replace.

The Optoma HD72 replaced the well-regarded Optoma H77 home theater projector. The HD72 was designed to take on the most recent generation of home theater projectors with 720p resolution from LCD and DLP manufacturers. Although it had many features, the previous H77 model was not affordable at the current sub-$2000 price point. Presenting the HD72 projector, which offered highly competitive pricing, enhanced performance, and a reduced number of features.
