Background and Identification

Nikon Corporation is a Japanese optics and imaging company. Their products include cameras, lenses, microscopes, etc, and they are directly competing with other imaging companies such as Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Pentax, and Olympus. Their Coolscan line was created in 1992 and seems to have concluded in 2004. The Nikon Coolscan IV ED was released in June 2001 and has since been discontinued.

The Nikon Coolscan IV ED is a box-shaped grey film scanner with the Nikon logo at the top of the front of the machine. There is a sliding black clover at the front, that can slide down to expose the scanner insert. The power button is at the bottom left of the front. The scanner has foam pads on the left side so you can lay it flat.
