Baby Unit Microphone
Tools
These are some common tools used to work on this device. You might not need every tool for every procedure.
Background
The Motorola MPB33SBU is a video monitoring system designed for parents to keep an eye on and listen to their baby from another part of the house. This is accomplished by using 2.4 GHz wireless technology that allows the units to stay connected as far apart as 590 feet. The device comes in white, and consists of two separate units.
The Parent Unit features a 2.8-inch digital color video screen with a kickstand attached to the back. The Baby Unit is a video camera mounted on a round tilting head with an external microphone. In addition to capturing sight and sound, the Baby Unit has a room temperature sensor, a speaker for two-way communication, and infrared night vision for dim and dark rooms. The whole system is expandable up to two Parent Units and four Baby Units.
Each unit is powered by its own specific power supply. The Parent Unit also runs on a rechargeable battery, making it portable for an average of 3.5 hours.
Although Motorola has not issued any recalls for the MPB33SBU, there have been some common complaints. One issue is the battery not holding a charge soon after purchase. Another issue is the quality of the video image displayed in night vision mode. Despite these and other complaints, most consumers should be able to diagnose and fix common problems with the MPB33SBU and prevent it from becoming e-waste.
Identification
This model should not be confused with the Motorola MPB36SBU which looks similar in color and design but has a 3.5-inch color video screen.
