Background
The Milwaukee Cut Off Saw 6185-20 is a powerful, handheld tool used for cutting concrete and metal in a downward motion at a depth of 4-7/16”, with a 15-amp, 4.8 maximum horsepower motor. The downward cutting motion of this saw provides a smaller chance of kickback and jamming.
This saw has a 20-amp overload protection, which prevents failure of the device. Adjustments can be easily made to the cut depth, blade, and guard angle using a 5/16” hex key. This saw is a corded device. It weighs 27.3 pounds and 19-¼” long, with a 1 inch arbor size and 1 inch spindle. There is a 5 year warranty on the device.
The device was first released in April 2008, and since then has had revisions to its schematics and parts, but none so important that it needed a recall or replacement. The device, however, has had frequent reviews that say the device sometimes malfunctions, with the three biggest symptoms that often require repair or replacement of parts being that it won't turn on, it causes excessive sparks from the motor when operating, and occasionally even trips the power source's circuit breaker.
