Background

The Makita Rotary Hammer is a drill for making holes in concrete and stone. It can also be used to drill and/or chisel other hard materials. Overall, it is a heavy duty piece of equipment that with proper training, can be useful for any mason, remodeler, electrician, maintenance worker, or general contractor.

The device currently sells for $259 on Amazon with similar prices on other hardware websites. There is currently a 5 star rating on the website with consumers touting it's lightness and ease of operation. Since the launch of this version of the rotary hammer, Makita has seemingly updated almost all of their appliances to be cordless, this one being corded is of an older generation. Other than some minor updates related to battery power use, and the introduction of the "Hammering Only" mode in the new line, this device is essentially the same as the newer model.

Identification

The device is a teal blue color, a Makita specialty, with black hardware accents. Generally, it resembles a standard drill with the addition of a handle located near the front of the device that slides a long a metal bar spanning the length. This handle assists with stabilization of the device while in use. The easiest way to tell this device apart from other versions is the fact that it requires direct power for use, and therefore has a cord. Also, unlike some other versions of the rotary hammer, this one only has two settings for drilling and hammering unlike the more complicated versions.

The model number is located on the right hand side of the device on the device sticker which also contains other warning information and important specifications.
