Background
The Makita Chain Saw DCS6421R started being manufactured in 2017. In 2018, the Canadian government issued a recall on Makita and Dolmar 64, 73, and 79 cc gas-powered chainsaws, which included the Makita Chain Saw DCS6421R. The reason for the recall was the automatic chain brake did not easily engage when the saw kicked back, possibly exposing the user to contact with the chain while it was still moving. As of March 31st, 2022, Makita has discontinued production of all engine products.

- Reason - This was due to the flywheels on some of the chainsaws that can come apart during use, which could cause serious personal injury.
