Background
The Mackie 1402-VLZ Pro was launched in the late 90's and gained a good reputation for its size, durability, and its easy to use design. The Mixer has 14 input channels for microphone and line-level signals, Equalizers for each input, XDR2 inputs, auxiliary sends, built in audio effects, Pan and Level controls, and solo and mute buttons. The mixer still lives on today in Mackie's newer model called the "Mackie 1402VLZ4" which is identical to the Mackie 1402-VLZ Pro with a few newer looking hardware pieces.
Mackie started off in 1989 after founder Greg Mackie built his first mixer called the LM-1602. The creation of the LM-1602 was a result of Greg Mackie building his own mixer in his garage that included things that he needed in his own mixings. Now over 30 years later, Mackie is still going strong building reliable and affordable mixers for artist, audio engineers and everyday people.
Identification
The easiest way to identify a Mackie 1402-VLZ Pro is by checking the top right corner of the mixer. It should say "MACKIE" with 1402-VLZ Pro directly underneath.
