Background
The HP Envy line of computers are a series of PC laptops by Hewlett-Packard, an American multinational internet technology company that produces hardware, software and other consumer products.
They launched the series in 2009 with two laptops—the Envy 13 and the Envy 15. They also added an Envy 14 and Envy 17 model eventually. In 2012, they rebranded their Pavilion series into the new line of HP Envy laptop and discontinued the original Envy series. The rebranded series came with Nvidia graphic processors and Beats by Dre speakers.
The Verge wrote about the newest releases as of April 2020. They include the updated Envy 13, Envy 15, the Envy x360 13 and the Envy x360 15. The Envy 13 is a 13.3-inch display ultrabook with Intel’s 10th Gen i7-1065G7 Ice Lake processor and Iris Plus graphics. The Envy 15 contains Intel’s latest 10th Gen i7-10750H processor and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics chip. The main feature of the Envy x360 is that it can be folded into a tablet format or at an angle to watch a movie or TV. All of these updated models should be available to the public by June of 2020.

Identification
While there are many different laptop models within the HP Envy Series, look for the following physical characteristics, which are shared across the series:
- Metallic-colored case, either in "natural silver" or "pale gold"
- Black bezel around the display
- The word "ENVY" displayed in capital letters (often in the same color as the case) located on the top case of the laptop, below the keyboard and to either side of the touchpad.
Physical dimensions vary across the series. In general, the number in the model name designates the approximate dimensions of the display. For example, the Envy 13 features a 13.3-inch display, measured diagonally from corner to corner.
The best way to identify the exact model of your HP Envy Series laptop is to refer to the service label, which is usually found on the underside of HP laptops. This can be an actual label affixed either to the bottom case or, in older models, underneath the battery in the battery compartment. More recently, service label information is printed directly on the bottom case of the laptop in the following manner:
HP Product Name
ModID (Model)
SN# (Serial Number)
Here's an example of where to locate the service label on the HP Envy 13.
