The Gourmia GAF536 is a modern air fryer that allows you to air fry, bake, dehydrate, and more. The components that make up this 5-Qt air fryer are a nonstick air fry basket, a nonstick crisper tray, a user manual, and a 60+ page recipe book. This device was released in 2020 out of Brooklyn, New York, and is still being produced and sold today. Headquartered in Brooklyn, Gourmia only ships nationwide. However, there are other retailers that carry this product and will ship it to other countries.

Gourmia is designed for cooks to make an easy, healthy, and delicious meal. The goal is to bring professional chef techniques to every kitchen. This device specifically can be found in Kohl’s for the listing price of $79.99.

Because air-fryers can now be considered an average household appliance, this 2020 model with standard air-fryer functions, the Gourmia GAF536 was not considered newsworthy at its release. Based on customer reviews from varying platforms, there is no specific cause for failure. There is a wide range of problems and complaints. Most of the time these items are just returned with no regard to what actually caused the failure. Most complaints were comprised of some variation of ‘It just stopped working.’ Some people were able to pinpoint that the screen stopped working or the fryer wouldn’t run, which leads to a possible cause being from any component. The number one complaint about this product was a burning plastic smell that would never seem to fade despite how often it was used. Some customers returned it immediately; others commented that they just endured it until the fryer eventually stopped running.

The Gourmia brand supplies various types of kitchen appliances. This specific model doesn't have the best nor have the worst reviews. The GAF536 replaced the Gourmia GAF486 that same year. The difference between these two devices is that the GAF536 has a higher capacity and more power than the GAF486’s 4 quarts. Later, the GAF556 replaced the GAF536 with the main differences being 120V of power being on an alternating current and the aesthetic of the design.

This air-fryer is a bulky, lightweight product. It’s mostly black with the exception of button text and basket handle. The temperature is displayed at the top of the screen followed by three columns of varying buttons. Gourmia models tend to fall within a box or egg shape; this one falls between the two with a slick screen that extends onto the basket. The screen is a smooth, shiny black and the rest has a matte finish. The basket itself has a grey handle with a vertical orientation. The model number can be found on the bottom of the device. It will most easily be identified by comparing photos provided of the device and the customers own because of the products lack of uniqueness.
