Background Information
The Fitbit Charge is a member of the long line of Fitbit activity monitors. It tracks both sleep and activity, including steps, travel distance, staircases climbed, etc. When paired with the Fitbit smartphone app, the user can analyze their sleep and activity patterns, set goals, enter competitions with their Fitbit friends, set discrete alarms, and more. The Fitbit Charge was released in October of 2014 but has since been discontinued. The Fitbit Charge HR closely resembles the Charge, with the only distinction being an added heart rate monitor. This function, however, brought the battery life down from 7-10 days in the Charge to only 5 days in the Charge HR. The Charge HR came out just a few months after the Charge in January of 2015, but it was also discontinued in 2016.
The Fitbit Charge is comprised of a textured silicone band, plastic encasing, and a display screen, showing the time and Caller ID of incoming calls. It comes in a variety of colors, including black, burgundy, and slate blue. In structure, the Fitbit charge is indistinguishable from the Fitbit Charge HR.
