Background and Identification
This gas-powered hedge trimmer is manufactured by Echo, a company that produces power tools for garden maintenance. This tool is made of a double sided blade at the end of a long shaft, powered by a 21.1 cc gasoline engine. The double sided blade means that this trimmer can be swept back and forth along a hedge, cutting no matter which way it is moving. This makes the tool much more efficient than a single sided blade.
This hedge trimmer has a 2-stroke gas engine, which means that it is a smaller and lighter engine that runs at a higher rate than a 4-stroke engine would. This makes it ideal for handheld tools such as hedge trimmers because the lighter weight makes it easier for the user to hold for a long period of time. However, two-stroke engines generally have higher emissions than four-stroke engines. The Chainsaw Journal has more information about the difference between 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.
This hedge trimmer can be identified by the model number HC-3020. This number can be found on the top of the red engine casing, above the black circle with the Echo logo.
