Background and Identification
The MM45 has a variety of features that makes it appealing to at-home projects. Using rapid side-to-side motion, the Dremel MM45 grinds, cuts, sands, scrapes, and much more with its interchangeable accessory heads. It utilizes the Quick Lock and Accessory Quick Fit Interface System to allow for fast, tool-less, and secure accessory head changes. Additionally, it includes a variable speed function for use with a wide range of materials. The tool also automatically adjusts the power and speed as needed with the Smart Boost feature. The on and off switches are separate to retain these speed settings while in use. The oscillating tool is purchased with the Dremel Multi-Max MM45-05 Kit that includes a storage case and 28 assorted pieces for cutting, sanding, and grout removal, costing roughly $100.
Compared to the Dremel MM40, the MM45 has a higher performing motor, with an increase from 3.8 to 5.0 amps. Other than that, many of the features remain the same between the two models. The model following the MM45, the Dremel MM50, has similar qualities, with many of them being in the body of the tool to make it more compact and more comfortable to hold. Additionally, a spring was added to hold the blade in place as it is being changed. Both tools have a 5.0 amp motor that is more powerful than all previous models. Overall, the Dremel MM45 ranks equally with the other Dremel Multi-Max tools. However, the MM45 is not as popular as many of its counterparts, with the MM35 and MM50 being the most popular.
