Background and Identification
The UltraSharp U2711 is a 27-inch monitor designed by Dell. For a retail price of $1099 in 2010, the monitor comes with a 1440p IPS screen and a lot of input options. I’m not kidding, the monitor has HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-D, VGA, component, and composite. You can select an input source and change settings using the on-screen display controlled by buttons on the right side of the screen.
The monitor comes with an adjustable stand that rotates up-and-down and side-to-side. You can also remove the stand and mount the monitor with a 100mm VESA bracket, but make sure your monitor arm can hold the 17-pound (7.7 kg) display. The U2711 has a built-in USB hub with two USB ports on the bottom and two on the left side. The most common issues with this monitor—including shaky video and missing color—are covered in the U2711 manual. If you notice any dead pixels, try following this guide from WikiHow or request a return if possible.
You can identify this monitor by finding the model number on a sticker on the back. You can also find the service tag or serial number on the sticker and enter them into Dell’s support homepage to get details about your monitor.
