Background

The Craftsman Scroll Saw 1372161 is a variable speed small form factor scroll saw. The 3/4 in stroke saws through hard woods up to 2 in. You can adjust the speed anywhere from 400 to 1600 strokes per minute. The cast iron base prevents vibration and walking during operation while the 16 in. x 5 in. table bevels up to 45 for angled cuts. The adjustable air pump clears saw dust from your work area to give you a clear line of vision as you cut. This scroll saw is able to make precise and complex cuts much easier than band or circular saws. The primary use of this kind of saw is cutting out designs, making precise cuts with a small margin of error, and making finishing cuts after using a larger scale piece of equipment. Although they're small and ideal for those applications, it is possible to make simple straight cuts with this tool as well.

Identification

The Craftsman Scroll Saw 1372161 is best identified by locating the information sticker on the side of the saw which will provide you with the model number to verify. If the device cannot be identified by the sticker, the device can be identified by its overall silver color with Craftsman stickers on both sides of the upper saw arm, as well as its red bevel adjustment knob with a yellow center. These models also have a black air pump tube with a red tip extending out of the upper arm of the saw.
