Background and Identification
The ChiliPad Cube is a personal climate control system that provides heating and cooling through a system of tubes that run through a thin pad that fits under the user’s fitted sheet.
The ChiliPad uses medical-grade silicone tubes that transfer heated or cooled water through the pad and helps heat or cool the user. The water circulates through a ChiliCube, which should be placed near the user’s bed. The Cube can heat water up to 110-degrees Fahrenheit and down to 55-degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature of the system’s water depends on the ambient temperature, humidity levels, and the amount of space around the Cube.
The ChiliPad system includes a wireless remote included with the ChiliPad and ChiliCube. The remote controller allows users to control the temperature of the system and has dual control options. The Cube requires 24-inches of clearance on all sides in order to function properly. The ChiliPad manufacturer recommends using a waterproof mattress protector in case of any leaks in the system’s tubing. A review of the ChiliPad found that it requires between forty minutes to an hour for the temperature of the system to achieve the setpoint.
The ChiliCube includes the name “Chili Technology” in lowercase letters printed on the main control panel of the cube. It includes a button with a snowflake, representing a cooler temperature, and a button with flames, representing a warmer temperature. The temperature setting of the cube can be changed either with the wireless remote or with the snowflake and flame buttons on the cube itself.
