Background and Identification

The AXIS 213 PTZ network camera provides pan, tilt, and zoom functions with built-in 26-times optical zoom. AXIS Communications AB is a Swedish manufacturer of network cameras for the physical security and video surveillance markets. AXIS develops network cameras for many applications including PTZ, vandal-resistant, thermal, outdoor, nitrogen-pressurized, HDTV, wireless, motion detection, and progressive scan cameras. PTZ cameras include pan, tilt, and zoom functions, hence the name “PTZ.”

The AXIS 213 PTZ network camera can be operator-controlled from any PC connected to the local area network or the Internet. The camera can pan 340 degrees, tilt 100 degrees, and zoom in on specific details. The AXIS 213 PTZ can be manually controlled or scheduled for switching between daytime color imaging, and black/white imaging in low-light or nighttime conditions. It uses built-in infra-red lighting or an external infra-red lamp to view longer distances. The camera delivers Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 video streams simultaneously for monitoring people and property, troubleshooting, and remote learning.

The AXIS 213 PTZ network camera includes 32 MB of RAM and 4 MB of flash memory. It requires 11.5 - 14 Volts of DC power and includes an Ethernet connector. It has a mostly grey body with a white front face. The name “AXIS Communications” is printed on the underside of the camera’s body.
