Background

The Atari Lynx is a discontinued model of the Atari handheld game systems and was released back in September 1989. The Atari Lynx is a 16-bit handheld game console that was to first handheld game console to display a color screen. The handheld game console features a color LCD with a backlight, switch table configuration, speakers, and various buttons.

The Atari Lynx includes:

  • Processor: two 16-bit custom CMOS chips
  • Memory: 64K RAM
  • Sound: 4 channel sound 8-bit DAC for each channel
  • Color: 4096 color palette
  • Resolution: 160 x 102
  • Screen Size: 3.5" diagonal

The Atari Lynx uses six AA batteries but can also use an AC adapter. The Atari Lynx also had quite a few accessories that are listed below.
