Background and Identification
Art (Applied Research and Technology) is a daughter company to the Canadian manufacturer of audio amplifiers, Yorkville Sound. Yorkville Sound began in 1963 in the backroom of a music store in Toronto and had continuous growth throughout the late 1900s and into the 2000s. The Tube MP is an extremely popular external tube preamp, notable for its lack of a transformer allowing great mobility. Its primary application is to be used with a microphone, but it can be used with any instrument the user wants.
The Tube MP has a simple, black design, with the ART logo in the top left, and the TUBE MP logo on the right side. A phantom power switch and phase reversal switch as well as input and output gain knobs are located at the bottom, and the input and output connections are located along the top.
