Background

The Apple Watch Series 8 is Apple’s 8th generation smartwatch. It was announced together with the Apple Watch Ultra on September 7, 2022 and was released on September 16, 2022

Like other Apple Watches, both GPS-only and GPS + Cellular models are available. And just like its predecessor it comes in two different size options—41 and 45 mm. The series 8 runs on an Apple S8 dual-core chipset and watchOS 9.0. Besides that it offers a newly introduced temperature sensing (0.01˚ accuracy).

Identification

The Apple Watch Series 8 comes in two materials—aluminum and stainless steel—and various finishes—midnight, starlight, (Product) Red, graphite, silver, gold. The titanium finish in the 2022 line up was reserved for the Watch Ultra. Despite the choice of material the watch body of the Watch 8 looks just like the Watch 7.
