Background & Identification
AirPods Max were announced in a press release on December 8th, 2020, and released the following week on December 15th. They are wireless headphones that use bluetooth 5.0 and Apple’s custom H1 chip to deliver high-fidelity audio. AirPods Max come in five colors: space gray, silver, sky blue, green, and pink.
In our teardown on January 11, 2021, AirPods Max scored a 6/10 on our repairability scale (10 is easiest to repair). The headphones are moderately repairable, with some key components incredibly easy to access and replace, while others are considerably more difficult and require special tools.
