Background

In 2003, Acer Inc. signed a sponsorship agreement with Scuderia Ferrari, the racing division of luxury Italian automaker Ferrari. This sponsorship led to the creation of Ferrari branded products including notebooks, netbooks, and a smartphone. The Acer Ferrari 4000 can be identified by model number ZF3 or 4005WLMi. The Ferrari 4000 was released on June 21, 2005.

The Acer Ferrari 4000 is a notebook computer with a 15.4-inch display with a resolution of 1680 by 1050 pixels. It includes a wide touchpad and large mouse buttons with a central button to control scrolling and Web browsing. Four instant-start buttons are located above the keyboard and can be programmed to launch frequently used applications. The Acer Ferrari 4000 is positioned between thin-and-light laptops and desktop replacement laptops. It includes a 2 GHz Turion 64 ML-37 processor, a 5400 rpm 100GB hard drive and 1 GB of 333 MHz DDR SDRAM. In tests of the Acer Ferrari 4000 by CNET, the computer’s battery lasted approximately three and a half hours.

The Acer Ferrari 4000 includes four USB 2.0 ports, an unpowered FireWire port, an S-Video port, a VGA port, and a DVI port, as well as headphone and microphone jacks and a Bluetooth radio. The laptop also includes a slot for Type II PC Cards, as well as a flash card reader that supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, and xD memory cards.

Identification

The Acer Ferrari 4000 laptop can be identified by its matte black carbon fiber case, bearing Ferrari's rearing stallion logo on a yellow background in the lower right corner of the palm rest and top cover. It also has red accents reminiscent of Ferrari's signature paint color along the sides where the ports are located and on the top of the top case.

The model number ZF3 or 4005WLMi is found on the bottom case on a service tag.
