Background and Identification
The VN289Q is an LCD monitor released by Asus in 2014. It has a screen size of 28 inches (71.12 cm) and a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. The monitor is fairly plain, with a black outer case and a silver Asus logo below the middle of the screen. It comes with a circular stand, but you can detach this part from the back and install your own mounting device to the 100x100 mm VESA mounting holes. You can identify the VN289Q by looking for the model number on an informational sticker on the back of the device. This Asus support article also shows that the serial number—which you might need if you contact Asus—is located on the same sticker.
The VN289Q has inputs for digital video in the form of an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, and a DVI-D port. You can also connect an analog source to the monitor via its VGA port. It has both a 3.5 mm audio input and a 3.5 mm headphone jack for audio output along with small stereo speakers (don’t expect to be blown away by the quality). According to Asus’s specifications, it uses at most 32 watts of power while it is running, and 0.5 watts in sleep mode.
